Happy Mother's Day - Skirt Sports Giveaway!

As many of you know, this is my first Mother's Day without my Mom. My Mom was not a runner (or much of an athlete at all) and she thought those of us who were runners were a little bit bonkers. She was however, impressed by all of us. She never could quite believe that my sisters and I were able to finish marathons and she was proud of us and glad that we'd found something that made us so happy. So, instead of being sad today, I'm running a contest in her honor. I think she'd approve of this for a lot of reasons:

1) She loved pretty clothes and I'm sure she'd approve of ladies running in brightly colored skirts instead of something less cute.
2) She loved presents (who doesn't?)
3) She REALLY loved cake and this giveaway includes cake at the finish line if you are lucky enough to run the event in person in Colorado. (If you run with me in PA I will provide a finish line cupcake!)

What am I giving away? I Basic entry to the Skirt Sports 13er race - a Half marathon/10k/5K (taking place in Louisville, CO or virtually anywhere)

The winner's package includes entry to the race (in person or virtually)
$50 gift certificate from Skirt Sports
Race #
Finisher's Skirt (Don't Sweat It Collection pull over skirt)
Sponsor swag

So how do you win? Sometime between now and May 20th comment on this blog and tell me about your favorite Half Marathon (if you haven't done a half yet, tell me about a race of a different distance that you have done or a race you WANT to do someday!) Then be sure to click on the Rafflecopter box to enter the giveaway! I'll be in touch after 5/20 to tell you know who the winner is and to explain how to enter the race.

Good Luck!

My favorite half was my first. The Texas Med Clinic Half in San Antonio TX. I ran it just 4 months after I quit smoking and started running. I will never forget it.

I'm running a Diva race this fall -- it will be my first Diva race. They look silly but fun.

My favorite half was one I did in the freezing cold this past December - the Half Merry Thon. It's my favorite because the course was stunning - New England coastline pretty much the whole way, and I PR'd!

My first half was in 2007 a multi-distance race, the Just a short run. It was memorable because it was the first time I ran the distance after giving up smoking and starting to run. I would love to go the distance again and am working towards it and beyond after having my first child in May 2014.

My favorite so far was my second half, the 2014 Route 66 half marathon. It was also about a year since I fractured my hip race walking so it was a huge milestone. Prior to that point I was about an 11 minute mile race walker. But because of the fracture I was on crutches for many weeks and completed five months of physical therapy. Knowing that race walking was something I would never do again after Route 66, I joined the Galloway group and started doing the run/walk. The original plan was to train for the Tower of Terror 10 miler....now I'm training for a full marathon.

My favorite half is still my very first one - Garden Spot Village. Hilly as heck and the medal is so-so, but such wonderful course support and the best after run food I've eaten at any race yet. I have a sentimental attachment. :)

The Napa to Sonoma half is my most meaningful and favorite half I've done so far.

I only began running in February 2014. After completing a few 5k's I got talked into doing the Divas Half Marathon in the fall that same year with the girl who I consider to be my running mentor. I was honored that she asked me to come take part. I was slower and it was tougher than I had thought it would be - but I finished. It was the best feeling to see people cheering me on at the finish and to receive my very first real medal!

My favorite has to be the first one I did, which was the Princess Half at WDW in 2013. What a sense of accomplishment to get it done and in such a fun environment! I trained really well and felt great afterward.

My favorite half was this past January at Marathon Weekend in WDW where I was able to run with some really fun people (including you Helen), and the miles flew by!!!
